Effective immediately, Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavilion has suspended outdoor visits due to the increase of positive coronavirus cases in the surrounding community. Nursing home officials will update families and the community when these visits are reinstated. Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation reports no additional cases of COVID-19 among residents at the Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavilion. The nursing home reports no additional COVID-19 related deaths. Residents who were exposed to last week’s positive employee are being tested under the guidance of the Georgia Department of Public Health; however, these residents are not symptomatic.
The nursing home reports no additional cases of COVID-19 among employees and no test results are pending on additional nursing home employees.
Additionally, Appling Healthcare reports two additional cases of COVID-19 among hospital employees. Test results are pending on two additional hospital employees.
Nursing home residents and employees will no longer be tested on a weekly basis; they will only be tested if they are symptomatic. As previously stated, decisions about testing for COVID-19 in outbreak settings are made in consultation with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Appling Healthcare continues to work closely with public health officials, communicating with the DPH on a daily basis.
All employees at the nursing home and hospital continue to be screened for respiratory illnesses and temperatures twice a day; at the beginning of their shift and in the middle of their shift. Residents are screened three times a day. Environmental Services is cleaning all high-touch surfaces three times a day.

Your email will automatically go to all of the nursing home administration team as well as hospital staff, so you should receive a response fairly soon.
